Sarah Palin Spotlight

Image
It seems Sarah Palin is fixed in the spotlight of both the left and the right now with everyone trying to determine her readiness to lead. Personally, I don't see how anyone could stand up under the expectations placed on her. I would love to see her have the chance to grow and develop as a world leader and prove her character and ability to do the job. In America, the media labels and sums a person up from day one, and most of the American public believes whatever they are told. I read an interesting article today in the Wall Street Journal that shows that sometimes we make a hasty judgement about public figures, and that there is always more to a person than what we see and read about in the media. Debates Don't Always Reveal Character

Economic Crisis

Thought I'd share this article from economist Thomas Stowell concerning the financial crisis. No matter what the media says or how you view this situation, we live in a blessed nation. A Political "Solution"

Useless News

Can someone tell me why this story is news worthy? Palin bans reporters from leaders meetings. My first reaction is "yeah, so what". Is she not allowed to meet with world leaders and give them a chance to speak freely? (major sarcasm here) Oh no, maybe she trying to hide something. Maybe she feels uncomfortable with her foreign policy experience and doesn't want anyone to know. I'm just confused as to why the media does not use its influence to help solve real problems that normal Americans are concerned about instead of distracting people and pushing a liberal agenda that will hurt way more than it helps. I spoke with Suresh from India yesterday, and he says that CNN does a lot of harm to America and our image and strength around the world. Most of the world is grateful for America and our stand for liberty and freedom, but we are our own worst enemy.

Sooooo True

Soup, Soap, and Salvation

The mission of Harvest India can be summed up with a statement by William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, which says we must reach the lost with "Soup, Soap, and Salvation". We need to go and feed those who are hungry, help them get cleaned up, then help them come to salvation through Jesus Christ. I found a few other quotes from William Booth that I thought were good. “In answer to your inquiry, I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.” - William Booth “While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight; while children go hungry, as they do now I'll fight; while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight; while there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the

Walking in Trust

I had an awesome time with Suresh Kumar last night. We're scheduled to take a team to India in March of 09 which I am looking forward to. I know it will be a life changing experience and the first of many. I'm looking forward to hearing Suresh speak tonight at church. I want to encourage you that now is the time for God's people to start stepping out into a place of trust and prayer. God cannot accomplish all that He wills for our lives unless we yield our hold on the natural and willingly step into the impossible with God. When we find ourselves standing in front of the Jordan River waiting for God to part the waters, we need to go ahead and step into the water. God will make a way before us as we step out in obedience. For too long we have waited for God to move, then we step. We need to first hear, then obey, then see Him do the rest. Trust it. Believe it. Walk in it.

Politics

Image
Man, two blogs in one day. I'm on a roll now. I admit, politics get me frustrated, even though I know that I do not put my hope and trust for my life, my family, or this country in the hands of any politician, but Jesus alone. I'll go ahead an appologize ahead of time for getting on a soapbox here. It is very obvious to me that both candidates do not know how to solve real problems, especially when the problem requires a spiritual answer. I'm convinced they are incapable of coming up with a response that does not benefit them personally in some fashion. I saw John McCain on the Today show this morning discussing the crisis on Wall Street. I thought, here is a chance to stand above the political muck and give people real answers, but all he did, in my opinion, was repeat the same retoric which may serve to fool a few people and get a few votes, but nothing else. That being said, I'm sure Obama's answer would have been much more obscure, pointless, and self serv

Harvest India

Image
I am excited. I get to see my good friend Suresh Kumar from Harvest India tonight. This is truly a man of God living out the Word among his people. It was a privilege for me to tag along with him to California last June, and now he is visiting our area again. If God puts it in your heart to do so, please support this vital ministry, and if you live close by, he will be speaking at LIFE House Church Bethel on 9/17/08 at 7:00 PM. Take a look at the video and see what God is doing in India.

Brother Yun

Thought I'd share this amazing story with you.

Sarah Palin Interview

I'm going to wait until I see the whole interview with Sarah Palin on ABC before making a judgment, but from the clips I have seen, which have been all the negative parts as far as I can tell, I think she did pretty good. I don't understand why Charles Gibson feel like he has to scowl at her the whole time and talk down to her like he is educating her and trying to talk her out of being confident in her qualifications. Hmmmm, I wonder who he is for? Maybe he's just upset that he does not have any joy in his heart like Sarah Palin does.

The Hornet's Nest

I read an interesting article this morning called "The Hornet's Nest" which was about combating the resurgent Taliban in Afghanistan. There are currently 19,000 US combat troops trying to secure the area, and 7,000 to 10,000 insurgents. I was looking at this from a spiritual perspective as I read. When Maj. Gen. Jeffrey J. Schloesser was asked "How serious is the challenge", here is his response. As we introduced more ground troops in 2005 to 2007, we started going into places where we had not been before. There's no doubt about it--when you poke a stick inside a hornets' nest, you are going to get some hornets coming out. We still see that today: activity is rising. We are going in and are able to find, locate, capture, kill or cause to flee insurgents of a variety of different groups in this Taliban syndicate. I would like to see the church do this. We need to press into areas where the enemy has control and is hiding, entrenched, and trying to w

Still here, just neglecting my blogging duties to enrich the world as we know it. I found these funny video's by MercyMe. There are several, but this one's my favorites. Enjoy.
