Unceasing Prayer

The Apostle Paul encourages us to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thes. 5:15) and to "be constant in prayer" (Rom. 12:12), to "pray in the Spirit at all times: (Eph. 6:18). How do we go about doing this? Foster calls this prayerful place in God's presence "the best, the finest, the fullest way of living." God doesn't expect us to, as Foster says "dive immediately into the ocean of constant communion and swim from one continent to the other." This habit of prayer is a process, a developing and growing relationship with requires commitment and practice. Every morning, give God your day, give him your thoughts. Check in with him throughout the day. Develop an awareness that he is there with you. Foster says "we develop intimacy by regular association." Learn to look for God in your life. Watch how the Holy Spirit is at work in you and in the world around you. Its though these associations that we begin to develop continual relati
