To Whom Shall We Go?

Too often in our lives we underestimate what an immense privilege it is to follow Jesus. I have to believe that if I was living in Jerusalem in 30AD, I'd be tromping around the country side with Jesus listening to every Word and then bugging Him afterwards to get the real story behind the story. John 6 tells us about some of the people who followed Jesus. Most of them followed for their own reasons and eventually left.

In verses 67-69, Jesus turn to His disciples, the twelve, and says "Will you leave also"? I love Peter's response. He says "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God".

To be a true follower of Jesus Christ you must extend yourself out beyond the confines of your own life and reach into Jesus. Learn to rely on Him for the natural bread and the spiritual. Learn to not be able to live without Him. Allow yourself to grow dependent upon Him. Let yourself come to know Him over time to be the very one He says He is. Learn to let Him be Lord and Master in your life and you will feel the same way Peter did. Where can I go Lord but here with you? I have forsaken my own way and all things in my life have value and meaning only through You. Where else can I receive the truth that feeds my soul?

What a wonderful privilege it is to stay with Jesus!
