Choice

I've decided to blog everyday in December. I did this once before and found it difficult to keep up with the commitment. It really comes down to choice. It doesn't matter how busy we are or what's going on in our lives, we always have a choice. I often think about how I know what I need to do to foster spiritual growth and development in my life. I know what it means to live as a disciple of Christ, I know what God has spoken to me, and I know the steps I need to take each day to get there. Knowing is not the problem, but doing is often where the struggle lies. I believe we all know. To grow in any area of our lives we need to choose to do whats right and choose to do it consistently. Paul tells us in I Cor. 9:24 to run so that we may obtain the prize. If you're struggling to chose what you know to do, start with something small and measurable. Find someone to do it with you or hold you accountable. Then make a commitment to the Lord to do the thing in his strength. The Holy Spirit will help you in the process just as Jesus promised.

I've been reading The Spiritual Disciplines: Understanding  How God Changes Lives by Dallas Willard. I hope to share some thoughts from this book over the next 30 days.
