Jireh

Thinking about the lyrics of this worship song..."Jireh, you are enough." The name for God Jehovah-Jireh means God will provide. How do we get to a place where we really know, feel, and believe that God is enough? I don't think we doubt God is enough or that he can meet any need, we just doubt he will come through and provide for us specifically. How do we believe that God will come through for us? We've all experienced doubt. We can all recall times when we felt God let us down. Someone may say that God's ways are above ours and we may not always know the why. I get that, but it doesn't always sit well with me. Our God wants to be known. He wants to have fellowship with his people. God told Abraham "Shall I hide from my friend Abraham what I am about to do?" (Gen 18:17). Would God hide from me his reason for withholding some things? I don't think he does. If I have doubts and if I feel God has let me down, then the fault is with me. It's a lack of knowing him on my part. He has said if I ask him, seek him, and keep knocking, then he will be there. Sure, it's easier to just sing the song and say I believe it by faith and that settles it. It's another matter to recognize I may not know God enough and decide to dig deep and run after him. Yes, he is always enough. Thank God he has given me a way to really know and experience that in my life.
