Day 365

This time of year, everyone is thinking about New Year resolutions. I've shared this before, but it's worth repeating. It's better to finish the year well than to begin well. It feels good to start on day 1 of the year with a goal, but it feels way better to end the year on day 365 knowing you completed that goal. I'm thinking of what I'd like to finish this year. I have a few days to decide. Maybe a reading goal. Maybe I should finally start writing every day. Can I finish the year having blogged something every day? The question is not can I, but will I. I think the fear of failing holds us back. And the fear of being uncomfortable holds us back. Commitment to anything will cost us something. This Lord of the Rings quote from Galdalf seems fitting for 2024.

"You will have to do without pocket handkerchiefs, and a great many other things, before we reach our journey's end, Bilbo Baggins."
