God will make a way

As that old Christian song says, "God will make a way where there seems to be no way..."

Last night I was worried that today I would give in to a temptation. It was something that I knew I shouldn't do, but my self-nature wanted to do it anyway. The thought of going through with it was relentless and I couldn't get it off my mind. This morning, I simply told the Lord I wanted to honor him with my choices today. I realized late in the day that I didn't even think about the temptation one time. By then, it was gone and a renewed hunger for more of God was there in its place. God does make a way for us. He is there always doing a new thing and always holding back the waves and the consuming fire. There are days when the way forward seems impassable, but there is always a way through. Take a deep breath and then take just one small step toward God. Sometimes it takes all the courage in the world to just stand your ground and resist the urge to run back to a comfortable place. Stand there in the discomfort just one moment longer. Take that win and let it sustain you so you can get back up and face the trial one more time. Be a relentless overcomer and never give up. Celebrate even the smallest victories. Keep moving forward because God will meet you there in that place. He is for you, he loves you, and he will make a way for you!

Take a minute to meditate on God's promise to us.

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by name, you are mine.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;

when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,

and the flame shall not consume you.

For I am the LORD your God, (Is 43:1-3)

Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert. (Is. 43:19)
