Stress not

Why do we stress over so many things that never occur. The anxiety and the worries floods in with the expectation of trouble. We allow the anxiety to change our routines, we run to our numbing activities, and we just wish it was over already. Then when it is over and we realize none of our fears actually came to pass and we wonder what we were so worried about. All I can say it that it takes time to develop the presence of mind to circumvent those behaviors. It takes time to build up the emotional awareness we need to just live fully in the moment. What a valuable gift that is to just embrace the day and live the best we can.

Jesus said "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6:34. Jesus never said anything that was not backed up by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our initial reaction to many of Jesus statements is that we cannot do it. That is exactly right, we can't, but God's Spirit can through us if we allow him. He will give us the strength, the ability, and the renewed mind to live as Jesus promised we could.
