What Does It Take?

What does it take to change things in your life? I've discovered that what I think it takes to change is rarely ever the same as what it actually takes? The self wants to be first, it wants to be comfortable, it wants to have control over your decisions. To really do what it takes, you must overcome that self-voice. What it really takes to change is beyond the place where self tells you to stop. Self wants to give you a plan that makes you feel good, a plan that makes you feel like you've accomplished something, a plan that you can tell others about. Self wants a plan that will satisfy your desire to change without actual change. Self-promoted change is temporary and fleeting. Thats why we must go beyond what we think it takes to change. We must enter into the unknown and discover a new place. Keep moving forward until you've gone farther than you thought possible.  It won't be comfortable, it will involve pain, and self will be yelling at you to stop, but it's worth it. You don't need to tell anyone, just get out there and keep doing it. You don't need validation or praise for what you're doing, that only builds up self and gives it strength. Your real inner self doesn't need that. The only thing the real inner self tell you is "You got this. Just keep going."
