The living water - 02

Jesus' free offer of living water comes with a condition. We have to choose to come to Jesus and drink. This is an act of faith on our part. It requires me to step away from where I am. What's on my mind and in my heart? Am I trying to satisfy my thirst through my own strength? Am I expecting someone else to come to me and meet my needs? Am I just sitting there waiting for God to help me or fix my situation? All those thoughts and expectation are the space I occupy. I have to step out of that space and go to Jesus to receive. God has already done his part, is doing is part, and will forever continue to do his part. My part is to go and receive and allow what I receive to flow out of my life. See the pattern here - Go, Receive, and Give! This step of faith is always a precursor to receiving spiritual gifts. Jesus says give love and kindness as you have received love and kindness, give mercy and forgiveness and you have received those gifts. The promise is there, Jesus is there, the living water is there - all you need to do is take that step.

John 7:37-39 (ESV) On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
