Prayer

Oswald Chambers said prayer does not prepare us for the work, prayer is the work. We need to get back to real prayer in our personal relationship with Christ. We have allowed our prayer lives to grow cold and ritualistic and they have become largely ineffective. We have to spend some time building our prayer life back up. We have to break through the lethargy and self dominance to heat up the fire in our heart once again. Self will pulls us down. Prayer is selfless and seeks God's will alone no matter what cost to our self life. Religious prayer serves the self will and builds it up, but real prayer is costly. Its ironic though that what we let go of is far less that what we receive in return. When we give up self, it will fall into the ground and die. Then the life of Christ will be raised up in our life and through our life. On our part, prayer is an act of laying our life down at the foot of the cross. On God's part it is the resurrection of the life of Christ wi

The Next Level

God is good and faithful to do everything He has spoken to my heart. My wife and I have been knocking on the door of the next level of our life for a few years now, and now it is wide open. I have found that most people want to go to the next level, but are unwilling to step out in faith or let go of the past to do it. We like comfortable familiar places. Like a newborn, we like being wrapped up tight in that warm blanket. We don't feel comfortable stepping through that new door into those wide open unfamilar spaces. The thing is that God will fill up that space with good things. He is streching out out tent stakes and expanding our boarders. He will grow us and mature us to fit the new, vast, open potential. Step out in faith and trust your loving God. He will do everything He has spoken.

Crying Angels

Good to be home from India. More on that later. Good to be moved in to our temporary townhouse. I know God has more in store for us. It was raining yesterday when we moved and Seth said he know why. he said the angels in heaven were crying with happiness because we were obedient to the Lord. He is pretty profound for an almost 9 year old.

There is a River

Ps 46:4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. There is a river that flows from the heart of God, from the center of His kingdom purpose for every man in every place and time. Its streams branch out and flow into our opportunities and our decisions, and make known to us the way of the Lord. We have a choice to follow the stream that leads us back to the river. We were meant to live in the river of true Life. We are to flow in it, be submerged in it, and let it take us where He wills. There is wholeness and fulfillment there. I believe everyone has a stream that will flow together with other streams and join to become a river of new life and unity and purpose. All life that is born of Christ is new. It is not just new, but it is always new, never the same from one moment to the next. It is also always better, and beyond that, it is always creatively new with an infinite number of possibilities as all the streams, com

Does God Like You?

I started reading Brennan Manning's book The Wisdom of Tenderness . He asks a tough question that I had to think about. "Do I wholeheartedly trust that God likes me?" Not"loves me" because we know God cannot do otherwise by His very nature, but does He like me? Is he fond of me? I'll be honest, I know He does and I have felt many times that He does, but sometimes its hard to hold on to that. Do you feel like God likes you when your struggling for a financial miracle and you know that all things are God's and maybe He could help you out a little more? Does He like you when your kids are sick and you ask for their healing and He delays His answer? The reality is that He does like us more that we can ever know and He is working on our behalf to bring about the best for our life. Knowing that and feeling it confidently deep in our heart is a matter of trust. Its a matter of walking by faith and not by sight. The hard part for me so far in this book

The Gospel

I have been so overwhelmed lately with the importance of the Word, the simplicity of the gospel message of Jesus Christ. From the farthest reaches of the universe to the inner reassess of man's heart, there is nothing more vital than the Word of God. Jesus is the Word, He is the good news, this gospel message that rescues the lost and sets men free. There is nothing else. The more we see the magnitude and fullness of the Word, the more we will be overwhelmed by God's grace. It seems today that everyone is looking for the right formula and method to bring a spiritual transformation to our culture. You know, I think I have the answer. Immerse yourself in the Word. Fall in love with it, consume it, let the Holy Spirit plant it deep in your heart and bring it to fruition. Take the entirety of your life and offer it up as a living sacrifice to the Word of God.
