Giving Mindset

I've been listening to an audio book of Francis Chan's "Crazy Love". You can download it for free from Christian Audio and I'd highly recomend it. He is crazy and his ideas on giving are crazy, but he is right and his ideas are right because they are biblical. At one point he sold his house and moved into a smaller one so that he would have more to give. Is that crazy? I think its crazy not to give like that. I think its crazy to not open yourself up fully to a God who desparately wants to pour out blessing on your life. I think its crazy to wander around in the wilderness of the worlds system thinking your going to get ahead and get out of debt someday and maybe be able to give more at some point later on in life. I think its crazy how much we spend on ourselves. I think its crazy how much we depend on the world and not on God. I'll freely give God every last penny I have just to know Him more. I want absolutely everything He has for me and my family

Missional Money Mindset

There has been a lot of talk about missional living lately. I'm all for it. The church needs to get out in the communities where we live, and where we work and be an example of Christ. For most people this is not easy and it takes a real transformation in our thinking. I have found though that whats even harder for many believers is to change the way they think about money. In every community in America we are currently experiencing an economic famine. Like Joseph did in Egypt, I hope we have allowed God to speak to us about storing up resource to help those who are in need. What better way to be missional than to step up and let God give generously through your life. The truth is though that most of the church is no better off. Its not about how much money you have, but what you do with it and who your trusting in. Can we demonstrate to those around us that God loves them and wants to meet their needs no matter what their situation? Rom. 13:8 says to owe no man anything,

A God Who Cares for Me

A few months ago God spoke to me about the gap that exists between what I know God can do and the reality of my life. I've stepped out on a journey to intentionally bridge those gaps and let God be everything He can be to me. Its a difficult thing to walk in the unknown and break the heavy, oppressive, self-reliant pattern that we have allowed to take root in our lives, but its worth it. Walking lightly in the fresh air of freedom is refreshing and fascinating to me. Many believers walk through life with their eyes closed because they are too gripped by the fear of trusting God with the unknown. We have become selfish people. We hoard money and resources so we can take care of our own needs. We have placed our dependence in worldly systems, and they have become our masters. I am learning to trust a God, my Abba Father, who cares for me. I'm learning to let go of my perceptions of the world around me and embrace His. I want God's love and freedom and money and resour
