God's Not Telling

Image
Earlier this week I listened to the audio book " A Tale of Three Kings " by Gene Edwards. He repeated this phrase a few times - "God knows, but God is not telling". I found that interesting and I can definitely relate. How many times do we seek and answer from God or direction for life and He doesn't answer? There have been desperate moments for me when I have thrown all the religious prayer protocols out the window and literally begged and pleaded with God to give me some word, some sign of direction, but God is not telling. The truth is that God IS always telling. He is always speaking through His Word and through His Spirit. He speaks through His love, His peace, and confidence in His plan for our life. Like a loving father He is not just telling us what we think we want to hear, but He's leading us through transformation. He leads through the unknown. He leads with perfect vision and understanding of our future. He leads through limitless possibilities

Thoughts

A few things I thought about today... Thinking about all the things people are doing wrong around you is a huge waste of time. It will also distract you from moving forward. All things really are possible with God.He is responsible to accomplish His Word and His promises to His people. If we think He will let us down, then we really don't know Him. That's OK, because we all don't know Him is some way. I've found lately that I really don't know God like I thought I did. I pray I have that discovery everyday. I want to know Him desperately, deeper, and more intimately. Doing nothing is sometimes the best option. How hard is it to stand still when self is screaming at you to run or act or retaliate or find someway around waiting on God. Sometimes we like to ask God to scoot over and let us drive for a while. What a blessing it is to sow the Word, see it bear fruit, then see it come back and nourish you at critical moments in your life. I am always amazed at how

A Tale of Three Kings

Image
A Tale of Three Kings audio book is free on Christian Audio this month. Pretty good so far. Here are a few quotes that stirred my heart. The world is waiting to see true mighty warriors who wield the Word like a sword in the power of the Spirit of God. None shall stand before them as they claim the ground upon which they tred for their mighty King. My son is such a man. He is yet a boy, but that mighty warrior is deep within him. He humbles me with his strength in the Lord. He will stand in the presence of the King and be not ashamed as men line up to proclaim his deeds done in Christ and through Christ Jesus our Lord. Excerpt from - A Tale of Three Kings - Ch. 17 "Men who speak endlessly on authority only prove they have none. And kings who make speeches about submission only betray twin fears in their hearts - they are not certain they are really true leaders sent of God and they live in mortal fear of a rebellion." "True leaders teach loosing, not winning,

The Rising Water

Image
I was thinking last night how often God seems to wait until the last possible minute to rush in and save us from whatever difficult situation we're facing. Graham Cooke says we all know God has a weird sense of timing. He says that God is always on time, but misses lots of opportunities to be early. I thought about how many times I've felt like I was drowning in difficult, seemingly impossible situations. It feels like the room is filling up quick with water and your running out of time. Did you ever think "OK God, any time now would be nice!". Here is the key though that maybe you've not considered. God is able to keep you from drowning. I've have times recently when if felt like God wasn't going to save me from the rising water. I frantically watch as it rises to my shoulders, chin, mouth - then I hold my breath and finally succumb to the water, but then I find I'm still alive. I think these situations almost always require a rebirth of sorts or

By Many or By Few

Sam 14:6-8 - Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few. Do all that you have in mind,” his armor-bearer said. “Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.”  This morning we read about Jonathan and his armor bearer taking the Philistine garrison. I love this story. In the midst of fear and doubt, Jonathan trusts in the Lord. Far too often we run and hide in holes and caves like the army of Israel. Wholeheartedly following Jesus Christ is not for the weak of heart. God is looking for insane people who will dare to trust Him. Like Graham Cooke says on the battlefield we see a different side of God that few see. I love that Jonathan says "Nothing can hinder the Lord..." We need to remind ourselves of that everyday. That should be our standard response when self shouts that we can't do it, its impossible, or G

Jesus for President

Image
I was involved in a group discussion tonight and the questions was asked, could we convince someone to vote for Jesus as president, and what were His qualifications based on Paul's description of Him in Col. 1:15-23. I thought I'd share my answer... This is interesting to think about. Would anyone vote for Jesus with a campaign slogan of “Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Me (Luke 9:23)?” That may not go over so well in America. Maybe Paul would be His running mate. He could campaign with Jesus and tell the voters how they too could be imprisoned, flogged, beaten with rods, stoned, shipwrecked, and spend a night and day in the open sea. No government assistance in this administration - you will labor, toil, and often go without sleep. You may often be hungry, thirsty, cold, and naked (2Cor. 11:23-27).   I can see the approval ratings going through the roof. Then again, there is the fact that Jesus has created all things in heaven and on earth, visible and inv
